PharmaclickThe objective of the Pharmaclick project is to offer a remote pharmaceutical assistance service by the use of specific "Pharmaclick-points" (designed by Pininfarina) that in-clude an automatic storage for main prescriptions, a videoconference device and basic telemedicine devices to collect physiological parameters. Main features of the service are its round-the-clock availability and its delivery, irrespective of the distance between the Pharmaclick system and the pharmacist providing support to the user.

Pharmaclick allows citizens to receive pharmacological prescriptions even though in remote areas, where maintaining of a real pharmacy is not viable. It sets a new model in providing citizens e-health services at low-intensity level and a first health support point, especially to people with disabilities or elderly. Pharmaclick provides suggestions via the use of a "light" tele-health service. Moreover, Pharmaclick gives to local health-care authorities a view on the health expenditure and a way to monitor "not disclosed" needs that the health-care system must address. The project aims to deploy a service fully supporting eHealth through a pan-European infrastructure devoted to enforcing health, welfare and therefore social cohesion.

The Pharmaclick Unit is an independent hardware and software module physically allowing medical products distribution. A basic configuration has one Automatic Contact Centre (ACC) for each network of Distributor Units connected using a wireless or cabled network as 3G-UMTS, GPRS, Wi-Fi and LAN. Pharmaclick is a multi-channel platform, independent from connection modalities used by the pharmacies to link up to the kiosk: wireless UMTS, wireless Wi-Fi zone, cable (ADSL) enabled. By these means of communication, Pharmaclick reaches its target: "Serve the customer anywhere, anytime". The Pharmaclick system architecture is a web based platform, using basic open source software. A standard Web Service interface guarantees platform interoperability.

Pharmaclick allows increasing customer acquisition and retention, resulting in increased reve-nues and at a significantly lower cost. It allows increasing citizens satisfaction, resulting in in-creased quality of service. Pharmaclick boosts effectiveness of social health services and en-hances their perceived quality, providing a final solution for citizens in low populated areas. Professionals, local administrators and field operators could gain a considerable optimization of their services.

The deployment strategy identified by the Pharmaclick Consortium is mainly focused on two main pathways: one dedicated to Public Administrations and the second one related to phar-macy chains or associations. Both pathways have been thought considering the existing areas where Pharmaclick could better express its potential.
